This course is designed to build up the foundational skills of wheel throwing, glazing, and utilitarian based design. The course covers the entire ceramic process of wheel throwing from clay to ceramic. Please check the syllabus for more information.

Finished work can be picked up 1-2 weeks after session 5.

  • 5-Week Class Series
  • 6:30 PM - 9 PM (2.5 hours/class)
  • Materials and tools are included. 
  • Comes with one 25lb bag of clay.
  • Maximum capacity of 8 students per session to ensure adequate personal instruction. 
  • Open studio times are 10AM - 6PM Monday - Sunday. Sunday open studio requires remote access, more info on Sunday access will be shared during the first session.

Class dates: 02/23, 03/02, 03/09, 03/16, 03/23

Syllabus

Week 1: 

Introduction, facility tour, centering, cylinder demo, studio time

Week 2: 

Wedging, cylinder practice, bowl demo, studio time

Week 3:

Trimming demo, handles demo, lecture on types of clays, cones, tools, firing stages

Week 4: 

Final stages of greenware, underglaze, decorating, cleaning up pieces

Week 5: 

Lecture on glazes, glaze demo, spray booth demo, glaze work
